Mr Pankaj Kumar Singh, a senior IPS officer of 1988 batch from Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of Border Security force by the ACC headed by Prime minister. He took over his new charge on Tuesday. Mr Singh will be serving on this post till 31st December 2022.
Previously he was serving as the special DG for BSF. He also served in CBI for 8 years and in CRPF for 4 years.
Mr Singh is also known for significant police reforms in our country. In 1996 after his petition in the Supreme Court ,the fixed tenure for at least 2 years started to be given to the chiefs of the CBI, the IB, the RAW, foreign secretary and the Union home minister.
His father Mr Prakash Singh, a retired IPS officer of 1959 batch has also done his duty as DG of BSF from June 1993 to January 1994.
