New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Sumitra Priya Srivastava for appointment to the prestigious post of Director (Marketing) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG).
The recommendation was made following a selection meeting held on July 14, in which 12 candidates were interviewed. Srivastava, currently serving as Executive Director (Corporate Strategy) at Indian Oil, emerged as the top choice.
An Insider Chosen to Lead Marketing Strategy
Srivastava was selected from a diverse group of applicants, which included:
- 7 candidates from Indian Oil
- 2 from BPCL
- 1 each from CONCOR, GAIL, and NTPC
His selection reflects not only his deep institutional knowledge but also his strategic and operational leadership within IOCL, particularly in corporate planning and long-term business transformation.
Role and Responsibilities of Director (Marketing)
As Director (Marketing), Srivastava will:
- Serve as a Board member, reporting directly to the Chairman of Indian Oil.
- Spearhead the company’s downstream petroleum business, ensuring operational efficiency, market competitiveness, and growth.
- Be responsible for the formulation and execution of marketing strategies, both short-term and long-term, to achieve IOCL’s corporate objectives.
- Contribute significantly to business development, customer relations, product innovation, branding, and the expansion of Indian Oil’s domestic and international marketing footprint.
This role is crucial at a time when Indian Oil is navigating energy transitions, expanding its digital presence, and deepening its reach across conventional and alternative fuels.
