Posting Twist: IAS Riya Dabi and IPS Husband Now 100 Km Apart After Rajasthan Transfers

Jaipur: In a fresh round of administrative transfers in Rajasthan, the state government has promoted and transferred several IAS and IPS officers. Among them are IAS Riya Dabi, the younger sister of renowned IAS officer Tina Dabi, and her husband IPS Manish Kumar, who now find themselves posted about 100 kilometers apart.

Manish Kumar Promoted, Posted as SP of Dungarpur

IPS Manish Kumar, a 2021 batch officer, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dungarpur district. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional SP in Udaipur, where he was posted along with his wife Riya Dabi. His promotion is seen as a significant step in his career, reflecting the state’s recognition of his service.

Riya Dabi Continues as CEO, Zila Parishad, Udaipur

IAS Riya Dabi, also a 2021 batch officer, continues to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Council (Zila Parishad) in Udaipur. While she hasn’t been transferred, the posting of her husband to Dungarpur has resulted in a physical separation of nearly 100 kilometers between the two.

A Familiar Pattern: Married Officers Serving in Nearby but Separate Districts

This is not the first time that the Rajasthan government has posted IAS or IPS couples in separate, though nearby, districts. Earlier, IAS Tina Dabi was posted as the Collector of Barmer, while her husband IAS Pradeep Gawande was made Collector of Jalore—two adjoining districts in western Rajasthan.

Background: Batchmates and Cadre Shift

Riya Dabi and Manish Kumar, both from the 2021 civil services batch, were married after completing their training. While Manish Kumar originally belonged to the Maharashtra cadre, he successfully opted for a cadre transfer to Rajasthan after marriage to be with his wife. The couple had been serving together in Udaipur until this recent reshuffle.

The transfers highlight the often-complicated balance between personal life and professional responsibilities faced by civil servants.
