Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, celebrated its 35th Raising Day across the country with enthusiasm. Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, joined Power Grid’s celebrations in Gurugram on October 23, where he congratulated Power Grid CMD RK Tyagi and the team for their significant contributions toward creating a unified power network across India.
Minister Naik highlighted Power Grid’s achievement in realizing the “One Nation, One Grid, One Frequency” vision, contributing to the development of one of the largest synchronous grids in the world. He also commended the organization’s essential role in supporting India’s energy transition goals.
As of September 30, Power Grid has commissioned and operates 279 substations, over 1,78,195 circuit kilometers (ckm) of transmission lines, and 537,276 MVA of transformation capacity. Through advanced technological tools, digital solutions, and a strong commitment to automation, Power Grid has maintained an impressive average transmission system availability of 99.8 percent. This milestone reflects Power Grid’s dedication to ensuring reliable power transmission and advancing India’s energy infrastructure.
