New Delhi: State-owned power transmission giant Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has announced a significant leadership update, with its Chairman and Managing Director, Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan, taking on additional responsibilities as Director (Projects).
Leadership Transition Announced
According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Power on April 6, 2026, Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan has been assigned the additional charge of Director (Projects), effective from April 1, 2026.
This temporary assignment will remain valid for three months or until a regular appointment is made, or further instructions are issued—whichever comes earlier.

Role and Responsibilities
The Director (Projects) position is a critical role within POWERGRID, responsible for:
- Execution of key transmission projects
- Infrastructure expansion and modernization
- Ensuring timely delivery of strategic power initiatives
With this additional charge, the CMD will oversee both overall corporate leadership and project execution functions, ensuring operational continuity.
Regulatory Disclosure and Compliance
POWERGRID has officially communicated this development to both:
- National Stock Exchange of India
- BSE Limited
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, highlighting the company’s adherence to corporate governance norms.
The filing was signed by Satyaprakash Dash, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer.
Temporary Arrangement Ensures Continuity
This interim arrangement reflects the government’s approach to maintaining stability in key leadership roles while the process for appointing a permanent Director (Projects) is underway. It ensures that critical infrastructure projects continue without disruption.
