Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday said the Centre’s PRAGATI digital platform has become a powerful instrument of good governance, significantly accelerating infrastructure development and strengthening coordination between the Union and state governments.
Addressing the media at the New Circuit House in Raipur, Sai said PRAGATI reflects the new work culture of New India and embodies the principle of minimum government, maximum governance by ensuring time-bound implementation of projects and schemes.
Stronger Centre-State Coordination and Faster Execution
The Chief Minister said India’s rise as the world’s fourth-largest economy has been supported by effective Centre-state cooperation, with PRAGATI acting as a vital bridge for monitoring and execution. The platform, which stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, was introduced to overcome delays caused by procedural hurdles, poor coordination, and lack of fixed timelines.
Under PRAGATI, the Prime Minister regularly reviews key projects with chief secretaries and senior Union government officials. More than 50 high-level review meetings have been held so far, helping fast-track over 3,300 projects across the country, involving investments of nearly ₹85 lakh crore, Sai said.
Improved Implementation of Major Welfare Schemes
Sai noted that implementation of 61 major central schemes has improved significantly through PRAGATI. These include the One Nation One Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi, and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The platform has also strengthened grievance redressal across 36 sectors, including banking, insurance, RERA, and various welfare schemes, ensuring quicker resolution of public complaints.
Chhattisgarh Projects Under PRAGATI Monitoring
In Chhattisgarh, 99 national infrastructure projects worth ₹6.11 lakh crore are currently being monitored through PRAGATI. Of these, 50 projects have already been completed, while the remaining are at different stages of execution.
Out of 200 state-related issues flagged on the portal, 183 have been resolved, reflecting a success rate of over 91 per cent, the Chief Minister said.
Resolution of Long-Pending Infrastructure Bottlenecks
Sai said PRAGATI has helped resolve long-pending issues in key sectors such as power, roads, railways, coal, and steel. Major projects benefiting from the platform include the modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant, the Lara Super Thermal Power Project, and the four-laning of the Raipur–Kodebod road, where critical bottlenecks were cleared.
Commitment to Transparent and Time-Bound Development
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to transparent and result-oriented governance, Sai said Chhattisgarh’s governance innovations have received international recognition, including appreciation from Oxford University.
“PRAGATI shows that the vision of a developed India is not just a slogan, but a structured roadmap backed by effective governance tools,” the Chief Minister said.
