New Delhi: Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, where she underscored the vital role of personal and professional integrity in leadership, governance, and nation-building.
President Stresses Integrity as Key to Leadership
During her interaction with the 77 RR (2024 batch) IPS probationers, President Murmu highlighted that while police officers derive authority from laws and institutional systems, true power emanates from one’s personal and professional integrity. She emphasized that a future-ready police force led by capable young officers would play a pivotal role in shaping a strong, developed, and resilient India, often referred to as “Viksit Bharat,” according to a statement from the President’s Secretariat.
The President urged the probationers to uphold ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability as they prepare to take on responsibilities in law enforcement, emphasizing that the credibility of the police force depends on the integrity and professionalism of its officers.

Honoring Former President K.R. Narayanan
On the same day, President Murmu paid floral tribute to India’s former President K.R. Narayanan on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan, honoring his legacy of exemplary public service, constitutional stewardship, and commitment to inclusive governance.
Engagements with Political and Administrative Leaders
President Murmu also received the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, at Rashtrapati Bhavan. These meetings underscored the President’s ongoing engagement with political and administrative leaders to deliberate on governance priorities and public welfare initiatives across the country.
Focus on Healthcare and Public Well-Being
Earlier, President Murmu inaugurated Yashoda Medicity in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the critical role of healthcare infrastructure in nation-building. She emphasized that safeguarding citizens’ health and continuously strengthening medical facilities remain key priorities of the government.
President Murmu appreciated Yashoda Hospital’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting its significant contribution to public health. She also lauded the hospital’s participation in national initiatives such as the National TB Elimination Program and encouraged it to actively engage in campaigns addressing sickle cell anaemia and other pressing public health challenges.
