Recently, the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) took up the task of securing the crucial raw material of coal in the middle of acute disruptions budding from the agitation by workers at Adani Gangavaram Port Limited (AGPL). The agitation by workers at the AGPL has harmed the gross coal supply, thereby, posing a formidable challenge to RINL’s production. The RINL, on the other hand, has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to lessen the impact of the disruptions and uphold operational continuity.
To ensure raw material security — the RINL management has diverted its two vessels to VPT that were stranded at AGPL. One of the vessels was benched on April 19th, and the coal was unloaded at VPT. RINL is completing the customs formalities and with the help of Railways is trying to transfer the cargo (Coal) to RINL in the next few days, thus, it shall mitigate the coal crisis within a couple of days.
The RINL has also arranged around 40,000 tons of Coal from other sources to abate the predicament and has been constantly pursuing with AGPL regarding the transfer of 82,000 tons of Limestone and 2.2 lakh tons of Coking Coal which is already available in AGPL. Thus, it is only a matter of time before RINL ramps up the production in a phased manner.
