The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in partnership with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), organized a National Workshop on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The workshop brought together over 100 stakeholders from various States and Union Territories (UTs).

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “Housing for All.” He described PMAY-U 2.0 as a groundbreaking initiative that is helping many families realize their dream of homeownership while ensuring affordable and inclusive housing. He emphasized that the scheme focuses on key groups such as Low-Income Groups (LIG), Middle-Income Groups (MIG), street vendors, economically disadvantaged individuals, women, and those with disabilities.

In his address, Mr. Sanjay Kulshrestha, CMD of HUDCO, highlighted the corporation’s pivotal role in supporting the government’s housing goals. He outlined HUDCO’s efforts in providing financial assistance on competitive terms, aiding project implementation, and organizing capacity-building workshops for stakeholders.

Mr. Kuldip Narayan (2005-batch Bihar cadre IAS officer), Joint Secretary & Mission Director (HFA), provided an overview of PMAY-U 2.0, detailing its criteria, modalities, and implementation process. He noted that over 25 states have signed MoUs under the scheme and stressed the importance of a systematic approach to expanding affordable housing through both government and private sector efforts.
