National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), a PSU under the Department of Fertilizers, Vijaipur has decided to set up an Organic Waste Converter Plant (OWC), which will prove to be fruitful in Waste Management. This has been done as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swatchh Bharat Abhiyaan (SBA) announced in 2014 to encourage the public of India to keep their country clean and green.
Tons of biodegradable waste that will be collected in the unit will be transferred to OWC, where it will be segregated from the non-degradable components. According to the statement posted on Aug, 22nd ‘2020, “National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) a PSU under the Department of Fertilizers, Vijaipur (MP) is going to set up an Organic Waste Converter (OWC) Plant. The biodegradable waste collected in the unit shall be transported to OWC where the same shall be segregated from non-degradable parts.”
The whole process will take around 10 days for converting the waste into ready-to-use compost.
The aim of this project is to recycle about 2000 kg per day of the biodegradable waste that is generated in the township and to convert it into ready-to-use compost. The waste will also include horticulture waste.
The unit intends to substitute the use of harmful fertilizers by using this compost as manure for the developments of park and public places. It can also be used by the local residents for their kitchen gardens or lawns. “The unit plans to utilize this compost as manure thus substituting consumption of fertilizers/ manure used for developments of Parks or Public places. The compost can also be used by the residents in their Lawns and Kitchen Gardens.”, said the statement.
The CGM of Vijaipur unit, Mr Jagdeep Shah Singh performed the Bhoomipujan of the upcoming OWC plant, in the presence of the senior officials of the unit.
