Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) pavilion at the “Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025” in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. He was welcomed by IREDA Chairman and Managing Director Pradip Kumar Das, who provided an overview of the company’s 37-year journey as India’s leading green financing non-banking financial company (NBFC).
During the discussion, Das highlighted IREDA’s significant contributions to renewable energy growth, emphasising its role in helping India achieve its target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030. This aligns with the country’s broader Panchamrit commitments and Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, and other dignitaries. The IREDA pavilion, under the theme “Responsible for Renewables,” showcased innovative strategies for financing clean energy initiatives and promoting sustainable development.
Expressing his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit, Das reiterated IREDA’s commitment to accelerating India’s transition to green energy and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting self-reliance and sustainability through strong financial backing for renewable energy projects.
IREDA’s Director (Finance) Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty and other senior officials were also present at the event.
