New Delhi: Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has directed state-owned telecom giant BSNL to submit detailed circle-level customer growth and business plans for the current financial year, as part of a renewed push to accelerate the PSU’s turnaround.
In a high-level review meeting with 27 Chief General Managers (CGMs) and senior officials of BSNL, Scindia praised the company for turning profitable after nearly 18 years, and urged the leadership to sustain the momentum by focusing on customer acquisition, service quality, and regional innovation.
Monthly Strategy Meets and Regional Collaboration
The minister instructed BSNL’s top brass to hold monthly meetings to share best practices, address challenges, and co-create solutions tailored to the specific needs of different regions.
“Every circle must submit a comprehensive customer growth plan and a business plan for FY 2025–26,” Scindia emphasized, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.
Historic Turnaround and Growth Trajectory
BSNL reported a net profit of ₹262 crore in the October–December 2024 quarter, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to revive its financial performance. The company also added 55 lakh new customers over the past 8–9 months, reflecting growing public confidence and network expansion.
Scindia urged BSNL officials to focus on customer retention and long-term engagement, stressing that consistent performance and user satisfaction would be key to the PSU’s future growth.
Capacity Building and Leadership Alignment
In addition to business strategy, the minister also highlighted the importance of leadership development, calling on CGMs to mentor and build capacity among junior officers and align their teams with BSNL’s renewed mission.
“Infuse passion and get your teams on the same wavelength,” Scindia told the CGMs, emphasizing the role of internal motivation and unity in transforming the organization.
