Punjab: 8 IPS Transferred in Major Police Reshuffle, Satinder Singh Posted as DIG, Ludhiana Range

Chandigarh: In a significant administrative move in Punjab, the Bhagwant Mann led state government has transferred eight Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including three Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), as part of a wider reshuffle across the state’s police force. The Home Department issued the transfer orders on Saturday, aiming to streamline operations and enhance law enforcement efficiency across key divisions.

Satinder Singh Shifted to Ludhiana Range; Nilambari Vijay Moved to Counter-Intelligence

As per the official orders

  • Satinder Singh, 2010 batch IPS officer and currently DIG, Border Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Ludhiana Range.
  • He replaces 2008 batch IPS officer Jagdale Nilambari Vijay, who has been reassigned as DIG, Counter-Intelligence.

This exchange marks a significant change in leadership for two key regions in Punjab.

New Appointments Across Patiala, Border, and Technical Services

  • Nanak Singh, 2011 batch IPS officer and DIG, Patiala Range, has now been posted as DIG, Border Range.
  • The DIG, Technical Services, will now additionally hold charge of Patiala Range, indicating a dual responsibility in the evolving law enforcement framework.

Promoted Officers Finally Assigned Roles

  • 2011 batch IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, who had been awaiting posting since his promotion, has been appointed DIG, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) – a critical role in combating organized crime in the state.
  • Naveen Saini, also promoted recently, has been posted as DIG, Crime, reinforcing crime investigation capabilities.

Officers Returning from Central Deputation Get New Roles

  • 2012 batch IPS officer Dhruv Dahiya, who returned from central deputation, has been appointed AIG, Counter Intelligence.
  • D Sudarvizhi, an IPS officer of 2012 batch and also back from deputation, is now posted as AIG, Internal Security, stationed at SAS Nagar (Mohali).

These appointments aim to utilize the experience gained during their central postings to strengthen internal and counter-intelligence operations in Punjab.

Strengthening Policing and Intelligence Framework

The reshuffle comes at a time when the Punjab Police is intensifying its focus on organized crime, intelligence gathering, and counter-insurgency measures. The fresh postings are expected to inject new energy into crucial departments such as the Anti-Gangster Task Force, Crime Wing, and Internal Security.
