Chandigarh: In a significant administrative move in Punjab, the Bhagwant Mann led state government has transferred eight Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including three Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), as part of a wider reshuffle across the state’s police force. The Home Department issued the transfer orders on Saturday, aiming to streamline operations and enhance law enforcement efficiency across key divisions.

As per the official orders

  • Satinder Singh, 2010 batch IPS officer and currently DIG, Border Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Ludhiana Range.
  • He replaces 2008 batch IPS officer Jagdale Nilambari Vijay, who has been reassigned as DIG, Counter-Intelligence.

This exchange marks a significant change in leadership for two key regions in Punjab.

  • The DIG, Technical Services, will now additionally hold charge of Patiala Range, indicating a dual responsibility in the evolving law enforcement framework.

Promoted Officers Finally Assigned Roles

  • 2011 batch IPS officer Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, who had been awaiting posting since his promotion, has been appointed DIG, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) – a critical role in combating organized crime in the state.
