Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Tuesday announced the promotion of five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 2011 batch to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).

The promotions were made official through a government notification and are subject to multiple conditional provisions.

Officers Promoted

According to the order, the following officers have been promoted-

  • Nanak Singh
  • Gaurav Garg
  • Deepak Hilori
  • Gurmeet Singh Chauhan
  • Naveen Saini

Promotions Subject to Various Conditions

The order clarified that these promotions are provisional, pending outcomes of writ petitions, court orders, and compliance reports in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Nanak Singh and Deepak Hilori have been promoted with the condition that they will receive actual financial benefits and future increments only after completing the Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) Phase.

For Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and Naveen Saini, the promotions are subject to review of the IPS select list, possible re-determination of seniority, and re-assignment of the year of allotment by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), if applicable.

Promotions with Notional Benefits Only for Officers on Deputation

Officers Gaurav Garg and Deepak Hilori, who are currently on central deputation, will receive only notional benefits for now. Actual benefits will become admissible once they rejoin duty in the Punjab cadre.

One Case Held in Sealed Cover

The name of Vivek Sheel Soni, also from the 2011 batch, has been kept in a sealed cover due to ongoing disciplinary proceedings. His promotion will be considered only after the conclusion of the case.
