Chandigarh: In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has assigned additional responsibilities to five senior officers, including two IAS, one IFS, and two PCS officers. The move comes into effect immediately.
Among the key appointments, Mr Mohammad Tayyab, a 2007-batch IAS officer currently serving as Administrative Secretary, Horticulture, and holding additional charges as Administrative Secretary, Soil & Water Conservation and Director, Treasury and Accounts, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Managing Director, Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB). The position was previously vacant.
Another major change sees Moneesh Kumar, an IAS officer of the 2014 batch, transition from his role as Director of Technical Education and Industrial Training to the position of Special Secretary, Technical Education & Industrial Training. This new responsibility reflects the government’s focus on improving the state’s technical and industrial training sector.
In the environmental and climate change domain, Manish Kumar, an IFS officer of the 2006 batch, who has been serving as Director, Environment & Climate Change, has now been assigned the additional role of Special Secretary in the Department of Science, Technology & Environment. His expanded responsibilities will focus on boosting Punjab’s scientific and environmental initiatives.
Further changes include Sanjeev Sharma, a PCS officer of the 2012 batch, who will now take over as Joint Secretary, Higher Education & Languages after his previous role in the School Education Department. This reshuffle is expected to strengthen the educational sector and language policies across Punjab.
