Dhuri (Punjab): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched the long-awaited ‘Mukhyamantri Maavaan-Dhiyaan Satkaar Yojana’, fulfilling one of the key pre-election guarantees of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Under the scheme, financial assistance has been directly transferred into the bank accounts of eligible women across the state.

The government released three months’ instalment in a single transfer, providing ₹3,000 to general category women and ₹4,500 to Scheduled Caste women.

Direct Benefit Transfer Begins for Lakhs of Women

The scheme was formally launched in Dhuri through a dedicated web portal, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initiated the transfer of funds.

Beneficiaries received SMS alerts confirming credit of the amount in their bank accounts as the payment process began during the event itself.

The government stated that the initiative is expected to benefit a large section of Punjab’s women population, with over 40 lakh women already registered under the scheme.

Scheme to Cover 97% of Eligible Women in Punjab

CM Mann said the scheme represents a major step toward women’s empowerment and social security.

Key highlights include:

  • Expected coverage of nearly 97% of women in Punjab
  • Allocation of ₹9,300 crore in the state budget
  • Monthly financial assistance under a structured welfare framework
  • Aim to ensure long-term and sustainable support for women

He added that the financial aid may not make beneficiaries wealthy, but it will provide respect, dignity, and financial independence.

Focus on Women Empowerment and Social Equality

The Chief Minister emphasized that the scheme is designed to strengthen:

  • Financial independence of women
  • Gender equality in society
  • Participation of women in economic and social decision-making

He described the initiative as a step toward building a more inclusive and equitable society in Punjab.

Government Highlights Welfare Achievements

CM Bhagwant Mann also highlighted several welfare measures implemented by his government, including:

  • Free electricity for households
  • More than 68,000 government jobs provided without corruption
  • Closure of toll plazas, saving around ₹70 lakh daily
  • Improvements in roads and infrastructure
  • Strengthening of education and healthcare systems
  • Expansion of public services and development projects

He said that public funds are being reinvested into development projects such as schools, hospitals, and roads.

‘Historic Milestone’ for Punjab: AAP Leadership

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia called the launch of the scheme a historic milestone, stating that the government has fulfilled major electoral guarantees made to the people of Punjab.

He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to delivering promised welfare schemes and strengthening social support systems.

The launch of the Mukhyamantri Maavaan-Dhiyaan Satkaar Yojana marks a significant expansion of Punjab’s direct benefit transfer programs, aiming to provide financial dignity and empowerment to millions of women across the state.
