Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath described education as the strongest pillar of individual and national development.

He said that quality education produces responsible citizens, professionals, and leaders, adding that the School Chalo Abhiyan was launched in 2017 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that no child is left out of education.

He reaffirmed that the government is working to deliver education and welfare schemes to every child without discrimination, and the results of these efforts are now visible across Uttar Pradesh.

‘Operation Kayakalp’ Transforms Government Schools

Highlighting improvements in the education system, the Chief Minister said that in 2017, only 36% of government schools had basic facilities.

To address this, the government launched Operation Kayakalp, under which schools were upgraded with support from public representatives and officials.

Key improvements include:

  • Separate toilets for boys and girls
  • Clean drinking water facilities
  • Furniture in classrooms
  • Libraries and kitchen sheds for mid-day meals
  • Boundary walls and improved infrastructure

He said the initiative has significantly improved the learning environment in government schools.

Appeal to Make Education Campaign a Mass Movement

CM Yogi urged MPs, MLAs, teachers, village heads, and citizens to turn the School Chalo Abhiyan into a public movement.

He said that every child who is out of school represents a loss not only for the family but also for society and the nation.

He emphasized that today’s students will become future doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders, making it a shared responsibility to ensure universal education.

Push for Smart Classrooms and Digital Education

The Chief Minister directed teachers and school administrators to ensure that every enrolled child receives timely access to:

  • Uniforms
  • School bags
  • Books and stationery
  • Shoes and learning materials

He also highlighted the state government’s efforts to modernize education through:

  • Smart classrooms
  • ICT labs
  • Digital libraries
  • Distribution of tablets to teachers

Additionally, more than one lakh differently-abled children have been provided assistive devices to help them integrate into mainstream education.

The launch of the School Chalo Abhiyan 2026 (Phase-2) in Saharanpur marks a continued push by the Uttar Pradesh government to strengthen primary education, improve school infrastructure, and ensure that every child has access to quality learning opportunities.
