Mr. K Siva Prasad, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre and currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary, has applied for voluntary retirement from service (VRS). The Punjab government has forwarded his application to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, for approval. If accepted, he will be relieved of his duties.

This is not the first time Mr. Prasad has sought early retirement. During the tenure of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, he had submitted a similar request but later withdrew it at the Chief Minister’s urging.

Apart from his administrative career, Mr. Prasad is also an author. He has written a book titled Gita Acharan – A Beginner’s Perspective, which explores the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and their relevance in modern life. The book has been translated into several languages. Speculation is rife about whether he may enter politics following his retirement. Notably, Mr. Prasad is related to former Lok Sabha Speaker GMC Balayogi.
