Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Tuesday evening ordered the transfer and posting of four IAS officers, with several officers receiving new responsibilities across transport, sports, health, municipal administration and general administration.
The reshuffle includes additional charges for senior officers Varun Roojam (IAS: 2004: PB) and Sakshi Sawhney (IAS: 2014: PB), while Sandeep Rishi (IAS: 2015: PB) has been given an additional municipal charge. Nikas Kumar (IAS: 2020: PB) has been moved from the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation to the General Administration Department.
Varun Roojam Gets Additional Charge of Sports & Youth Services
Varun Roojam (IAS: 2004: PB), currently serving as Administrative Secretary, Transport, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Sports & Youth Services.
Roojam will continue to hold his existing Transport portfolio alongside the newly assigned responsibility.
The additional charge brings the Sports & Youth Services Department under the administrative supervision of a senior 2004-batch IAS officer.
Sakshi Sawhney Gets Additional Sports Charge
Sakshi Sawhney (IAS: 2014: PB) has also been assigned an additional responsibility in the reshuffle.
Sawhney is currently serving as Special Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, besides holding charge as Mission Director, National Health Mission, Punjab, and Nodal Officer, Anti-Drug Campaign.
She has now been entrusted with the additional charge of Director, Sports & Youth Services.
Thus, the Sports & Youth Services portfolio will have additional administrative oversight at both the Secretary and Director levels following the latest orders.
Sandeep Rishi Gets Additional Charge of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation
Sandeep Rishi (IAS: 2015: PB) will continue as Chief Administrator, Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), SAS Nagar.
In addition to his existing assignment, he has been entrusted with the charge of Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar.
Rishi will therefore oversee both the development authority in the Greater Mohali area and the civic administration of Jalandhar.
Nikas Kumar Shifted to General Administration Department
Nikas Kumar (IAS: 2020: PB), who was serving as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, has been transferred to the General Administration & Coordination Department.
He has been appointed as Additional Secretary, General Administration & Coordination.
With this move, Kumar relinquishes his responsibility as Commissioner of the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, which will now come under Sandeep Rishi as an additional charge.
