Nainital: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced development projects worth ₹121.52 crore for Nainital district, giving a major boost to infrastructure, tourism facilities, and public amenities. The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 13 key public welfare projects, including the much-awaited Metropole Parking project in Nainital, considered one of his dream initiatives.
Out of the total allocation, projects worth ₹30.66 crore were inaugurated, while 11 projects amounting to ₹90.86 crore were laid for foundation stone.
Major Projects Inaugurated in Nainital
The Chief Minister inaugurated the ₹42.77 crore Shatru Sampatti (Enemy Property) Metropole Automated Mechanised Multilevel Parking in Nainital, aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing tourist convenience.
He also inaugurated the Sukhatal Lake Beautification Project, developed at a cost of ₹29.16 crore. The project includes:
- Development of a lake recharge zone and tourist destination points
- Construction of two lakes and a connecting duct
- Installation of an aeration plant to maintain water purity
- Construction of shops, toilet blocks, a lift, and a transit building
- Development of a pedestrian pathway around the lake
In addition, the renovation of the library at GGIC Haldwani, funded through the District Mineral Foundation Trust, was also inaugurated.
Foundation Stones Laid for Key Infrastructure Projects
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for several important projects across the district, including:
- ₹9.63 crore bridge construction (74.15-metre span) at km 11 on the Dunikhal–Ratighat–Padli motor road in Betalghat
- ₹34 crore automated mechanised multilevel parking near National Hotel in Harinagar, Nainital
- ₹38.57 crore multilevel parking complex with 16 shops at the old tehsil land in Ramnagar
- Installation of a stabilizer at government tubewells in Gram Shankarpur, Ramnagar, at a cost of ₹10.29 lakh
- Lift irrigation project in village Amel, Betalghat, worth ₹60.57 lakh
- Repair and construction works in four schools in Haldwani at a cost of ₹61.23 lakh
- Renovation and construction of 14 schools and one Anganwadi centre in Lalkuan costing ₹4.4 crore
- Infrastructure development in Kaladhungi, including five schools, a road, a Community Health Centre, and a sub-centre, at a cost of ₹2.8 crore
- Repair and construction works in four schools in Ramnagar costing ₹78.22 lakh
- Construction of a river-crossing cable over the Gola River at Danijala at a cost of ₹28.82 lakh
CM Emphasises Quality and Timely Execution
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami said that these development projects will play a vital role in strengthening the district’s basic infrastructure, expanding tourism facilities, and generating new employment opportunities. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person in society.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely execution and high-quality standards for all projects and reaffirmed that the government is continuously working for the overall development of Uttarakhand.
