CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Honours SSB Personnel at Pride Movement Felicitation Ceremony in Dehradun

Uttarakhand Chief Minister praises Sashastra Seema Bal’s role in national security, welfare measures for martyrs’ families and border area development

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday attended the Pride Movement Felicitation Ceremony organised by Arpit Foundation at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office, Mukhya Sevak Sadan, as the chief guest. On the occasion, the Chief Minister honoured officers and jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and lauded their courage, dedication and unwavering spirit of service to the nation.

Praise for SSB’s Role in National Security

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami said that the Sashastra Seema Bal has been playing a crucial role for over six decades in ensuring the country’s internal security. He highlighted the force’s significant contributions in border management, counter-terrorism, anti-Naxal operations and disaster management, carried out with exemplary bravery and commitment.

He noted that while SSB personnel remain vigilant day and night in protecting the nation’s borders, they also actively contribute in areas such as sports, social initiatives and disaster relief operations, setting a high standard of service and discipline.

India Moving Towards Self-Reliance in Defence

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving rapidly towards self-reliance in the defence sector. He pointed out that the country has now emerged as one of the leading exporters of defence equipment. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the world has witnessed and appreciated the strength and capability of India’s indigenous weapons.

Welfare Measures for Armed Forces and Paramilitary Personnel

Mr. Dhami emphasized that the Uttarakhand government is continuously taking new decisions for the welfare of soldiers, paramilitary personnel and their families. He informed that the ex-gratia amount for the families of martyrs has been increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh, and the honorarium given to personnel decorated with gallantry awards has also been enhanced.

Focus on Development of Border Areas

The Chief Minister further said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special efforts are being made for the development and empowerment of border villages through the Vibrant Villages Programme. Extensive road networks are being developed in border areas, which have improved connectivity and strengthened tourism, trade and strategic infrastructure.

He added that the Prime Minister personally visits border regions, interacts with local residents and security personnel, understands their issues and takes decisive steps towards development.

The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Niranjani Peethadhishwar Acharya Kailashanand Ji Maharaj, DIG SSB Sudhanshu Nautiyal, representatives from Arpit Foundation including Hani Pathak, and officers and jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal.
