Kavach is an advanced indigenous Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) developed by Indian Railways to enhance railway safety and prevent accidents. It is designed to provide real-time alerts and automatic braking in case of signal violations, overspeeding, or possible collisions. Kavach uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning System (GPS), and electronic interlocking to ensure seamless communication between locomotives, stations, and railway signaling systems. The system automatically brings a train to a halt if the driver fails to respond to warnings, significantly reducing human errors. Recognized as a cost-effective Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, Kavach is a crucial step toward modernizing railway operations and improving passenger safety in India.
