New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has achieved another important milestone in its international journey by securing a major overseas digital infrastructure project from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India. The project further strengthens RailTel’s position as a trusted global technology and telecom infrastructure provider.

Project Awarded by Ministry of External Affairs

In a regulatory disclosure filed with Indian stock exchanges on December 26, 2025, RailTel confirmed that it has received a formal Work Order from the Ministry of External Affairs. The assignment involves providing Project Implementation Services for setting up a Data Centre within the existing premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, located in Addis Ababa.

The project has been awarded as part of India’s continued cooperation with partner nations to support digital transformation and secure IT infrastructure development.

Project Value and Timeline

The total value of the contract stands at ₹19.83 crore, making it a significant international win for RailTel. The work order was officially received on December 26, 2025, at 5:30 PM, and RailTel stated that the disclosure was made promptly after obtaining necessary internal approvals, in line with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) regulations.

RailTel clarified that the order has been awarded by an international entity through the Ministry of External Affairs and is strictly project-based in nature. The company also confirmed that:

  • The transaction does not fall under related party transactions
  • RailTel’s promoters or group companies have no interest in the awarding entity
  • The disclosure fully complies with regulatory and governance norms

These clarifications are expected to reassure investors regarding transparency and corporate governance.
