New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., a Mini Ratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a major international contract from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) worth ₹144,41,500,000 (₹144.04 crore). The official Letter of Acceptance was issued on December 5, 2025, and the announcement was made by the company in a regulatory filing on December 6, 2025.
The deal positions RailTel as the Project Implementing Agency, responsible for the procurement, delivery, and support of 2,000 AI-enabled laptops as part of the MEA’s broader international technology initiatives. The project underscores RailTel’s growing role in large-scale, technology-driven government projects and demonstrates the PSU’s capability to handle complex IT procurement tasks.
Scope and Timeline of the Project
Under this contract, RailTel will not only supply the laptops but also ensure all related services and technical support are provided to meet MEA’s requirements. The project is expected to be completed by March 4, 2026, giving RailTel a tight but achievable timeline for execution.
The company emphasized that this is a straightforward business contract with no related-party involvement and no connection between MEA and RailTel’s promoters or group companies.
