Jaipur – Sudhansh Pant, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, a 1991 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is going on a 10-day foreign trip to UK from June 29 to July 7, to attend the General Assembly of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). The meeting will take place from July 1 to 5 at Manchester, with various cooperative leaders from around the world. Pant is representing IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative Limited) at the meeting.
DoP and MEA Clearances in Place
The Department of Personnel (DoP) has issued the required official travel orders. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, has also granted the political clearance for the foreign visit. Pant will also have to submit a report on his experience and observations upon his return, in keeping with the protocol.
Key Meetings Scheduled Before Departure
Pant has called a Committee of Secretaries meeting on Wednesday June 25, before flying out. He is also expected to be in the office on June 26 and 27, the two days of work before leaving. These are being scrutinized by certain bureaucracies who suspect news of an anticipated administration reshuffle could come in that time frame.
Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle Anticipated
As per reports in the state secretariat, the Rajasthan government is expected to issue a long awaited transfer order affecting IAS, IPS, and RAS officers before Pant takes leave. Likely together with his colleagues, Pant will oversee when the transfers will be finalized to allow for all State officers to have a smoother transition in Pant’s absence.
