Jaipur: With the increasing power crisis situation in Rajasthan due to rain shortage last month as well as coal shortage with the generating companies, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Mines & Petroleum, Subodh Agarwal, after being appointed to took charge of the energy department on Saturday, has instructed to take immediate strict actions to the authorities related. He asked the officers of the energy department to regularly analyze real time data of power generation, availability and demand. He also focused to have a separate new mechanism to be developed for uninterrupted power supply.
Mr. Agarwal belongs to the 1988 IAS batch of the Rajasthan cadre. He also served as the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited.
On Tuesday, Mr. Agarwal held a meeting with the officials of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam and Urja Vikas Nigam. He ensured that a mechanism for power supply is to be developed soon such that even in a crisis situation, electricity can be purchased at cheaper rates. He added thatrate data should be under the control of the officers of the concerned department.
Such meetings of the Energy Assessment Committee will be held regularly to discuss and come up with solutions to be taken up during high demand of electricity during Diwali and other festivals, farmers’ increasing demand for electricity for Rabi crops purposes, etc.
At present, demand of 2100-2200 lakh units of electricity is going on in Rajasthan everyday.
