Rajasthan: IAS Officers Given Additional Charges While 11 Await Posting

Indian Masterminds Stories

After the new government came in power, bureaucracy in Rajasthan is going through a unique situation. While 11 officers are still awaiting posting orders, few departments are working without any leadership, and some officers are handling multiple departments.

Officers like Kuldeep Ranka, Gaurav Goyal, Arti Dogra, Rajan Vishal, Pukhraj Sen, Gaurav Budhania, Ria Dabi, Ravi Kumar, AN Somnath, JP Chandrashekhar and SG Ravindra are awaiting postings. While four officials were put on APO (awaiting posting orders) from the CMO, six other officers of the 2021 batch have not been given new posting even after completion of training.

DEPARTMENT WAITING FOR PERSON IN-CHARGE

Veenu Gupta, who was serving as Additional Chief Secretary of two major departments – Industries and Mines, opted for VRS. While she became RERA Chairman post retirement, her department has not been handed to any officer. These two departments don’t have Secretaries also.

Similarly, Jitendra Upadhyay retired as the Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Department on November 30, 2023 but the charge of this post has not been handed to anyone.

Opposite to that, IAS officer T. Ravikanth of 1998 batch has been handling the responsibilities of four departments. His charges include Principal Secretary CMO, UDH (Urban Development and Housing Department) , LSG (Local Self Government) and Medical Education.

Apart from this, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma is also due to retire by the end of this year. She has already been given six months extension.
