Cadre Transfers on Marriage Grounds: A Growing Trend
Under Rule 5(2) of the IAS and IPS (Cadre) Rules, officers can apply for a cadre transfer to the state where their spouse is already serving, provided both cadres involved give a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Rajasthan’s frequent cadre approvals reflect its favorable administrative climate and family-friendly reputation.
Administrative Significance
This wave of transfers:
- Reflects Rajasthan’s growing appeal among officers due to stable governance, better postings, and administrative reputation.
- Also highlights a growing number of civil service marriages, particularly among younger batches.
- Demonstrates the central government’s flexibility in facilitating inter-cadre transfers for marital harmony.
