In a move aimed at facilitating career progression within the Indian Revenue Service, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, has approved the premature repatriation of Shri Rajiv Shankar, IRS (C&IT) 2008 batch. Currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, he will now return to his parent cadre to avail the benefit of promotion.

The decision has been formalised through Office Memorandum No. 14/1/2023-EO (MM-I) dated February 2026, issued from the Office of the Establishment Officer, DoPT, Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs had earlier submitted a proposal seeking his premature repatriation via its communication dated 24 February 2026.
As per the order, Shri Rajiv Shankar has been directed to be relieved immediately from his current assignment to report back to his parent cadre. The move ensures that he can complete the necessary formalities related to his promotion without administrative delay.
The Office Memorandum has also been circulated to key authorities for information and necessary action, including the Cabinet Secretariat, the Personal Staff to the Minister of State, the Secretary concerned, and relevant departmental panels.
Such decisions underscore the Government of India’s continued emphasis on administrative efficiency, streamlined personnel management, and timely promotions for officers. By enabling eligible officers to return to their cadres for career advancement, the system aims to maintain morale and ensure smooth progression within the civil services framework.
