New Delhi: Rajpal Meena (IPS: 2007: KL) has been appointed as Inspector General (IG) in the Border Security Force(BSF) on central deputation, according to notifications of appointments and recommendations issued on Monday.
A 2007-batch Indian Police Service officer of the Kerala cadre, Meena assumes the IG rank in one of India’s premier border guarding forces as of March 2026.
Professional Career and Postings
Prior to his central deputation, Meena was serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP), North Zone, based in Kozhikode, Kerala.
He has held several important field assignments in the state, including serving as District Police Chief (Superintendent of Police) in Wayanad and Kozhikode City. His tenure in these districts was marked by a focus on community policing and operational efficiency.
Central Deputation Experience with CBI
In October 2017, Meena was inducted into the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as Superintendent of Police (SP) on central deputation. His tenure with the agency was extended through late 2021, reflecting his role in handling key investigations during that period.
Promotion to IGP Rank
Meena was promoted from Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to Inspector General of Police (IGP) in early January 2025. Soon after, he continued to head the North Zone in Kerala before being selected for his latest assignment in the BSF.
