REC Bhubaneswar Honoured by BMC for Best CTU Adoption in Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Campaign

Bhubaneswar: In a significant recognition of its contribution to public cleanliness and civic improvement, the REC Regional Office, Bhubaneswar was felicitated by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for achieving Best CTU Adoption during the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign. The award was presented at the Swachh Bharat Divas celebrations held at Ekamra Hall, Bhubaneswar.

The felicitation was jointly presented by Honourable Mayor of BMC, Smt. Sulochana Das, and BMC Commissioner, Chanchal Rana, in appreciation of REC’s proactive role in advancing the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Transforming Blackspots into Clean Zones

As part of its CTU (Cleanliness Transformation Unit) initiative under the SHS 2025 campaign, REC RO Bhubaneswar adopted five blackspot locations within the city—areas that were in urgent need of restoration due to unmanaged waste and civic neglect. Through focused efforts, these sites were transformed into clean and usable public spaces, enhancing both the environmental and social health of the surrounding communities.

Commitment to Swachh Bharat Mission

This recognition highlights REC’s unwavering commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and public participation across the country. REC’s efforts not only addressed immediate sanitation needs but also aimed to build sustainable civic infrastructure and inspire community engagement.

A spokesperson from REC Regional Office Bhubaneswar noted that the initiative aligns with REC’s larger mission of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and reinforces its dedication to inclusive and sustainable development.
