Dehradun: In a significant step toward strengthening rural healthcare delivery, REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, has launched five Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Uttarakhand under its flagship CSR initiative, ‘Doctor Aapke Dwaar’, with a financial outlay of ₹6.01 crore.
The initiative was formally inaugurated by Pushkar Singh Dhami, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, in the presence of Dhan Singh Rawat, Health Minister of Uttarakhand, along with key officials from the state health department, REC Limited, and CSC Academy.
The MMUs, deployed in collaboration with CSC Academy, will serve remote and underserved areas across three districts — Haridwar (2 units), Udham Singh Nagar (2 units), and Tehri Garhwal (1 unit). Equipped with diagnostic and treatment facilities, the units will operate six days a week to deliver free primary healthcare services at the doorsteps of marginalized communities.
In a pioneering move to promote gender-sensitive healthcare, one of the five MMUs has been exclusively designated for women’s healthcare, staffed entirely by female medical professionals. This specialized unit aims to meet the unique health needs of women, particularly in conservative and geographically isolated regions.
The initiative will work in close coordination with Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and the Uttarakhand State Health Department, ensuring integration with public health strategies and continuity of patient care.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the importance of last-mile healthcare delivery in achieving the state’s vision of “Swasth Uttarakhand, Samriddh Uttarakhand”.
This deployment is part of REC Foundation’s broader commitment to healthcare access through Doctor Aapke Dwaar, which already operates similar mobile clinics in states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab.
