REC Limited, a Maharatna PSU, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with THDC India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. REC has committed Rs 3.97 crore for the construction of an Olympic-size swimming pool at the THDC Water Sports High Performance Academy for Canoeing & Kayaking in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand.

The agreement was signed on Friday by Mr. Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR) of REC, and Mr. Amardeep, General Manager and President of SEWA THDC. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CMD of REC; Mr. Harsh Baweja, Director (Finance), REC; and Mr. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDC.

The swimming pool facility will serve as a training ground for national-level athletes, helping them prepare for international competitions in canoeing and kayaking. This initiative reflects REC’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in India and empowering athletes to excel on global platforms.

REC Foundation has consistently supported sports development, alongside its broader CSR efforts in healthcare, education, sanitation, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability. To date, REC has funded over 400 CSR projects, disbursing more than Rs 1,300 crore and committing over Rs 2,000 crore cumulatively.

This collaboration with THDC marks another milestone in REC’s mission to foster talent and contribute to India’s recognition in water sports globally.
