REC Limited Joins Hands with National Test House to Strengthen RDSS Quality Assurance

Strategic MoU to Enable Third-Party Testing, Training Programs, and Robust Quality Frameworks for India’s Power Distribution Projects

New Delhi: REC Limited, a Maharatna company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Test House (NTH), operating under the Department of Consumer Affairs, to strengthen quality assurance mechanisms for the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The agreement was signed by  Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director (RDSS), REC Limited, and Dr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director General, NTH. The signing ceremony was attended by Smt. Nidhi Khare, IAS, Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs;  Bharat Khera, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs; and  Prince Dhawan, IAS, Executive Director (PMD), REC Limited.

Focus on Quality Testing and Assurance

The MoU will enable the two organizations to collaborate on third-party quality testing of RDSS project materials through NTH’s NABL-accredited laboratories. This step aims to address quality gaps in procurement and installation of materials under RDSS, ensuring reliable and safe power distribution infrastructure nationwide.

Capacity Building Through Technical Workshops

In addition to quality testing, REC and NTH will jointly organize technical workshops and training programs for staff and project stakeholders. These initiatives are expected to enhance skills, foster knowledge sharing, and ensure strict adherence to industry standards in all RDSS projects.

Developing Robust Quality Frameworks

The partnership will focus on establishing robust quality frameworks that improve operational reliability, material safety, and performance standards in the power distribution sector. This initiative aligns with REC’s strategic objective of enhancing project efficiency and delivering high-quality energy solutions to consumers across India.
