Dehradun: The Valley of Words (VoW) literature and arts festival has announced the winners of the 2025 REC-VoW Book Awards, honouring eight outstanding works across English, Hindi, Translation, and Children’s Literature. The annual awards will be conferred during the ninth edition of the VoW Festival, scheduled for October 25–26, 2025, at Hotel Madhuban in Dehradun.

Each award includes a citation and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, supported by REC Limited, a key partner in promoting literary excellence through this initiative.

Over 600 Nominations Received Across Genres

This year’s selection emerged from a record 600+ nominations, submitted by 75 publishing houses from across India. The final jury included past VoW Award-winning authors and translators, who assessed the entries for literary merit, innovation, and cultural relevance.

Celebrating Literary Excellence: 2025 REC-VoW Book Award Winners

Here are the winners of the 2025 REC-VoW Book Awards:

Literature that Reflects India’s Evolving Landscape

Speaking about this year’s winners, Festival Director Dr. Sanjeev Chopra said:

“What distinguishes this year’s winners is the range of voices and the themes they take on — from questions of identity and social change to the reinterpretation of cultural memory. The personal is the political, as these works underscore. Together, they reflect the evolving landscape of Indian publishing and the appetite among readers for stories that are both rooted and contemporary.”

VoW: A Pan-India Platform for Literature and Arts

Founded in 2017, the Valley of Words Festival has grown into a nationally respected, volunteer-driven literary platform. Organised annually in Dehradun, the festival fosters dialogue among writers, translators, readers, publishers, and artists through:

  • Curated literary conversations
  • Workshops and verticals across disciplines
  • The prestigious VoW Book Awards
  • Year-round outreach programs

This year, the festival continues to highlight emerging genres such as translation, children’s literature, and young adult writing, along with mainstream fiction and non-fiction in both English and Hindi.
