Combining Strengths to Deliver Green Transit Solutions

The MoU outlines a joint approach to conceptualize and execute eco-friendly, cost-effective, and scalable transit systems across India. RITES will contribute its decades of domain experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), while iSky Transport brings its patented SSRT solutions designed for urban and industrial applications.

SSRT offers a suspended, elevated transit alternative ideal for decongesting urban spaces and integrating multimodal connectivity in smart cities. This technology is touted for low land usage, energy efficiency, and quick deployability, making it well-suited for India’s growing urban centres.

Catalyzing Smart Cities and Infrastructure Modernization

The partnership aligns with India’s push toward smart urban infrastructure and sustainable transportation systems, particularly under government programs like Smart Cities Mission and Gati Shakti.

Speaking on the occasion, a RITES official stated:

This partnership underscores our commitment to driving innovation in transport infrastructure. Together with iSky Transport, we aim to develop scalable urban mobility models that can redefine public transportation in India.”

A spokesperson from iSky Transport added:

Our goal is to bring cutting-edge transit technologies to India’s cities. With RITES’s unmatched infrastructure expertise, we are confident of accelerating deployment of future-ready transport networks.”

Key Focus Areas of the MoU:

  • Urban mobility projects using Suspended String Rail Technology (SSRT)
  • Development of container logistics corridors and last-mile freight handling
  • Smart city transit integration with low environmental impact
  • Material handling systems for industrial applications
  • Promoting indigenously developed, sustainable mobility solutions
