Gurugram: RITES Limited, a leading public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has achieved a major international milestone by securing a USD 3.6 million railway export contract from Berhard Development Corporation (Private) Limited, Zimbabwe. The order further strengthens India’s footprint in Africa’s railway modernization journey and reinforces RITES’ growing global presence.

Key Details of the Zimbabwe Contract

The Letter of Award (LoA) pertains to the supply of In-Service Cape Gauge Diesel Electric Locomotives, which are widely used across Southern African rail networks.

  • Contract Value: USD 3.6 million (approximately ₹30 crore)
  • Scope of Work: Supply and delivery of operational Cape Gauge Diesel Electric Locomotives
  • Gauge Specification: Cape Gauge (1067 mm), standard across Southern Africa
  • Execution Timeline: 3 months
  • Nature of Contract: Pure export order

The contract does not include civil works or long-term maintenance obligations, enabling swift execution and faster revenue realization.
