Former Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri had not obtained the required permissions before the construction of a swimming pool in Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s official residence Jal Sannidhi, said a report by Mysuru Regional Commissioner GC Prakash. The Regional Commissioner found out in his probe that Sindhuri violated norms by not seeking permission from either the Heritage Department or the empowered heritage committee before constructing the pool in Jal Sannidhi, which is a heritage property.
The report also highlighted discrepancies in the project approval. It states that construction was proposed on December 30, 2020, and was completed on February 26, 2021. This finding contrast with the previous comment made by Sindhuri that the construction was made for a government pilot-project by Nirmiti Kendra. As, the project was given approval in a general body meeting of the Nirmiti Kendra held on March 2, 2021. The recent report also mention that the pool was not open to public so the construction didn’t involve any public interest.
Let it be noted that many senior officer including IPS D Roopa has criticised Ms. Sindhuri for continuing the construction. “Basically, when country is going through crisis of health and finance, she could have stopped the work . Going ahead with swimming pool work shows moral turpitude”, she tweeted.
