Jaipur: In a significant administrative move, the Rajasthan government has appointed three new members to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). The appointments, made following the Governor’s approval, include former senior IPS officer Hemant Priyadarshi, educationist Dr. Sushil Kumar Bissu, and cancer specialist Dr. Ashok Kumar Kalwar.
The appointment orders were issued by the state administrative department and mark the second round of RPSC appointments by the current government. With these additions, 7 out of the 10 sanctioned member posts in the RPSC are now filled, with three positions remaining vacant.
Who Are the Newly Appointed Members?
1 – Hemant Priyadarshi – Senior IPS Officer with Distinguished Service Record
Mr Priyadarshi, a 1992-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, brings decades of experience in national and state policing to the RPSC. Born on May 24, 1965, in Jharkhand, Mr Priyadarshi holds an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and has served in key leadership roles across multiple law enforcement agencies.
He has previously held positions such as –
- Inspector General and Additional Director General of Police at BSF, New Delhi (2016–2023)
- DIG and Joint Director at CBI, Bhopal and Mumbai (2008–2015)
- Director and ADG at Rajasthan Police Academy
- ADG, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB)
- ADG, ITBP and CRPF on Central Deputation
- Director, State Forensic Science Laboratory, Jaipur
Most recently, he served as the Director General at the Centre after completing a long and distinguished tenure in police service.
Mr Priyadarshi is the second former IPS officer appointed to the RPSC under the current government, following the appointment of former DGP U.R. Sahu as Chairman.

2 – Dr. Sushil Kumar Bissu – Education Policy Expert and Former AIS Division Head
Dr. Sushil Kumar Bissu is a respected academic who formerly headed the All India Services Division. He has played a crucial role in shaping India’s education landscape and is acknowledged for his contribution to the drafting of the National Education Policy (NEP).
Dr. Bissu has been a regular contributor to governmental policy forums and educational consultations, offering insights on curriculum reforms and institutional development.
3 – Dr. Ashok Kumar Kalwar – Renowned Oncologist from Jodhpur
Dr. Kalwar, a well-known name in oncology, is a cancer specialist based in Jodhpur. His appointment to the RPSC brings a medical and public health perspective to the Commission, which has traditionally been dominated by bureaucrats and academicians.
His inclusion is seen as a move to diversify the expertise within the Commission.
Strengthening the RPSC’s Leadership Structure
With these three new appointments, the RPSC now has 7 of its 10 member seats filled, bolstering the Commission’s ability to carry out its functions efficiently. This includes conducting state-level competitive examinations and advising on recruitment, promotions, and disciplinary matters in the state civil services.
The move reflects the government’s intent to bring administrative depth, educational insight, and domain expertise to the institution responsible for shaping the future of Rajasthan’s public workforce.
