Rourkela: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has inaugurated a new Plate Turnover Device at the Special Plate Plant (SPP) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The equipment was formally inaugurated on September 2, 2025, by Mr. R. K. Bisare, Chief General Manager (NPM & SPP), in the presence of Mr. P. K. Padhi, General Manager In-charge, SPP, along with executives and employees from SPP and the New Plate Mill.
Enhancing Workplace Safety and Productivity
The Plate Turnover Device will facilitate safe and efficient turning of plates during bottom grinding and inspection processes. By minimizing manual handling risks, the equipment will help improve operational safety standards while also boosting productivity.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bisare praised the commissioning team for their successful efforts, stressing that the facility would significantly enhance operational excellence and workplace safety.

Mr. Padhi underlined the importance of adopting innovative solutions to uphold SPP’s strong reputation for quality plate production. He noted that modern tools like the Plate Turnover Device are vital to achieving long-term efficiency and reliability in production processes.
Employees present at the ceremony expressed their commitment to utilizing the equipment effectively and reaffirmed their dedication to further strengthening performance and safety culture within the plant.
