In a new initiative by IPS officer Praveer Ranjan, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, “Samvedna Camp” an ‘Integrated Grievances Redressal mechanism’ was organized at all police stations in the union territory.
Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, SSP, UT Chandigarh and Mridul, IPS, SP/city led the initiative on mission mode to dispose of the complaints.
The objective of the camp has been to provide easily accessible and speedy machinery for the redressal of grievances of the general public as well as to bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning.
A total of 899 people visited the police stations during the campaign under the “Samvedna Camp” and a total of 1,409 complaints were taken care of during the camp.
The SDPOs of each sub-division supervised and reviewed the process personally by spending adequate time at the police stations of their sub-division.
During the meeting, a healthy interaction took place between the police and the public. Problems/issues were discussed and instructions/directions regarding the same were issued to concerned Police officials/Beat staff to comply with accordingly.
