Raigad: State Bank of India (SBI) organized a Mega Jan Suraksha Saturation and Awareness Camp in Khalapur on August 17, 2025, as part of the ongoing three-month nationwide Financial Inclusion (FI) campaign launched by the Department of Financial Services. The camp aimed to ensure 100% coverage of financial inclusion schemes at the Gram Panchayat and urban local body levels.
Strengthening Financial Inclusion at the Grassroots
The camp featured dedicated facilities for Re-KYC services and account reactivation, helping rural and semi-urban customers update records and regain access to banking benefits. This step is crucial for enabling Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under Government of India welfare schemes.
On the occasion, SBI Chairman C. S. Setty urged customers to complete their Re-KYC and reactivate dormant accounts to enjoy seamless access to financial services, including government schemes. He also emphasized the Bank’s commitment to financial literacy and digital safety. Awareness sessions on grievance redressal and cyber fraud prevention were also conducted.
Supporting Communities Through Services and CSR
As part of the day’s proceedings, sanction letters for MUDRA loans and financial support to Self-Help Groups were distributed. Beneficiaries also received settlement amounts under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY).
Under CSR initiatives, SBI distributed bicycles to meritorious girl students of Chilthan High School and supported renovation and painting work at Marathi Primary School, Shanti Nagar, Khopoli.
Participation and Community Impact
The event witnessed strong participation from local customers, many of whom completed their Re-KYC on-site. Community members, local leaders, and beneficiaries appreciated SBI’s effort to bring inclusive banking services, awareness, and social welfare initiatives directly to rural and semi-urban communities.
