New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has approved the appointment of S.C. Jain, an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer, to take additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). This decision comes as the current CMD, Pradeep Gaur (IRSE officer, 1987 Batch) superannuates on August 31, 2025.
Leadership Transition at RVNL
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had advertised the CMD post for RVNL on April 22, 2025, anticipating the vacancy. The official charge will be handed over to Mr. Jain on or after September 1, 2025, until further orders.
RVNL confirmed this development through an exchange filing, noting that the CMD position would fall vacant with the retirement of Mr. Gaur, born on August 5, 1965.

Rich Experience in Indian Railways
Mr. Jain, from the 1988 IRSE batch, holds a B.Tech (Civil) and an M.Tech degree. He currently serves as Advisor (L&A) in the Railway Board. With over 28 years of experience, he has contributed extensively across various railway projects, demonstrating expertise in infrastructure development and management.
Role of PESB in PSU Appointments
The PESB plays a pivotal role in managing appointments for leadership positions across central public sector enterprises, including RVNL. Its structured selection process ensures smooth leadership transitions in key organizations, enabling continuity in strategic projects.
