MoES Frees 54,815 Sq Ft Space, Generates ₹1.57 Crore From Scrap Under SCDPM 5.0

The Ministry of Earth Sciences freed 54,815 sq. ft. of office space and generated ₹1.57 crore through scrap disposal under the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 5.0.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) has reported significant administrative and cleanliness-related outcomes under the fifth edition of the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 5.0), including the recovery of office space and revenue from scrap disposal.

The campaign covered the Ministry and its institutes, with activities focused on cleanliness, disposal of pending materials, file management, space optimisation and grievance redressal.

54,815 Sq Ft Office Space Freed

Between December 2025 and August 2026, the Ministry conducted 20 cleanliness drives across its 10 offices and institutes.

The campaign resulted in:

  • 54,815 sq. ft. of office space being freed for productive use.
  • ₹1.57 crore generated through scrap and waste disposal.
  • 750 physical files and 177 e-files closed after systematic review and weeding.

The file-disposal exercise also supported the Ministry’s efforts to streamline documentation and increase the use of digital records.

Over 300 Public Grievances Addressed

The Ministry also reported progress in resolving public and official references during the campaign.

The matters addressed included:

  • 304 public grievances
  • 37 references from MPs
  • 17 references from the PMO
  • 1 Parliamentary Assurance

The Ministry said all inter-ministerial committee (IMC) references, including Cabinet proposals, and public grievance appeals were resolved, resulting in a 100% disposal rate for these categories.

Campaign Focuses on Administrative Efficiency

SCDPM 5.0 has been used across MoES offices and institutes to institutionalise cleanliness and improve the utilisation of available resources.

The Ministry said the campaign is focused on:

  • Improving workplace cleanliness and space utilisation
  • Disposing of obsolete material and scrap
  • Reducing pending files and records
  • Strengthening grievance redressal
  • Promoting efficient and digital documentation

The Ministry of Earth Sciences said it remains committed to maintaining clean and citizen-centric workplaces while improving administrative efficiency across its offices and institutes.
