New Delhi: In a significant step towards fostering excellence in corporate governance and enhancing professional capacity in the public sector, the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was formally signed by the Director General of SCOPE and CA Prasanna Kumar D, Vice President of ICAI, in the presence of key dignitaries including CA Rajesh Sharma, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Members in Industry & Business (CMI&B), ICAI; Lokesh Kumar Aggarwal, Member of SCOPE’s Executive Board and Director (Finance) at India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC); and CA (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary, ICAI, along with senior officials from both organisations.

This strategic collaboration is aimed at promoting capacity building, knowledge exchange, and professional advancement for stakeholders across Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs). Through joint initiatives such as training programmes, workshops, and sharing of best practices, the partnership seeks to empower professionals in finance, accounting, and governance roles.
Describing the alliance as a “landmark move,” representatives from both organisations highlighted the importance of aligning public sector practices with global standards in corporate governance, financial reporting, and accountability.
“SCOPE and ICAI share a mutual vision to strengthen the role of professionals in shaping efficient, transparent, and future-ready public enterprises,” the organisations said in a joint statement.
As the apex body of PSEs, SCOPE continues to play a key role in policy advocacy and capacity enhancement, while ICAI remains a leading institution in upholding professional standards in the accounting and auditing fields. The collaboration is expected to further policy dialogue and develop robust frameworks to enhance governance in India’s public sector landscape.
