New Delhi: The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), marked a major milestone in India’s clean energy expansion by exchanging Government Orders (GOs) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for two significant renewable energy projects—a 1200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Nandyala and a 50 MW Hybrid Solar Project.
The exchange took place during the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025, held in Visakhapatnam, reinforcing SECI’s leadership role in driving large-scale renewable energy development across the country.
High-Profile Summit Marks a Key Milestone
The partnership summit was attended by several distinguished leaders, including:
- Hon’ble Vice President of India
- Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh
- Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh
- Hon’ble Cabinet Ministers of Andhra Pradesh
- Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh
During the Energy Session, the Government Orders for both major clean energy projects were formally exchanged with SECI in the esteemed presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
SECI Takes Full Investment Responsibility Under CAPEX Mode
Both the 1200 MWh BESS Project and the 50 MW Hybrid Solar Project will be undertaken by SECI under the CAPEX Mode, meaning SECI will assume complete responsibility for project investment and development.
The Hon’ble Energy Minister of Andhra Pradesh ceremonially handed over the Government Orders to SECI, accompanied by the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and the Vice Chairman of NREDCAP.
SECI was represented by Mr. Sivakumar Venkat Vepakomma and Mr. Rohit Choubey, who participated in the ceremony on behalf of the organisation.
Strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s Clean Energy Infrastructure
The two projects collectively represent a major step forward in enhancing Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity and grid stability.
- The 1200 MWh BESS will significantly strengthen energy storage capabilities, ensuring round-the-clock reliability for renewable power.
- The 50 MW Hybrid Solar Project will add clean generation capacity while supporting peak load management and improving grid resilience.
These initiatives further accelerate India’s transition toward sustainable power systems and support the national clean energy vision.
A Strategic Push Toward India’s Renewable Energy Goals
The collaboration between SECI and the Government of Andhra Pradesh underscores a shared commitment to expanding renewable infrastructure, deploying advanced technologies and fostering energy security.
This achievement marks a proud moment for SECI, showcasing its instrumental role in driving the country’s large-scale clean energy transformation.
