New Delhi: 1994 batch senior IPS officer Abhilasha Bisht has officially been relieved from her duties in the Telangana cadre and has reported to the Andhra Pradesh cadre, as per a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The transfer, initiated by the MHA on February 12, 2025, followed a formal order assigning Bisht to the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
Despite challenging the transfer in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Ms Bisht did not receive relief, and she ultimately complied with the order. According to a recent government order, Bisht reported to the Andhra Pradesh cadre on February 26, 2025.
The same government order also confirmed that Bisht has been granted four months of child care leave, effective from her reporting date. This transfer comes amid ongoing bureaucratic reshuffling between the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, a legacy of the reorganization of services in the post-bifurcation period.
In her career, Ms Bisht was initially allotted to the West Bengal cadre. After marrying an IPS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, she secured a transfer to the AP cadre in 1997.
Known for her distinguished service, she is expected to assume a key role in the Andhra Pradesh police department upon her return from leave. This move marks another significant chapter in the ongoing administrative transitions within the region.
