According to sources, Mr. Kumar is expected to be relieved from central deputation by the end of May. His impending return has sparked intense speculation within Uttar Pradesh’s bureaucratic and police circles, especially as incumbent DGP Mr. Prashant Kumar (1990-batch IPS officer) is scheduled to retire on May 31.
Given the timing, Mr. Vipul Kumar’s return is being closely watched, with many believing that it may not be coincidental. His name is now being widely discussed as a potential contender for the post of Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh.
The final decision, however, rests with the state government, which is expected to announce a successor for the top police position in the coming weeks.
