Following a directive issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the tenure of the incumbent Press Secretary to President Droupadi Murmu, Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, was extended for one year. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of Singh’s contract for a further term from September 26th, 2024, to September 25th, 2025.
Mr. Singh, who is a senior journalist, was first appointed as the Press Secretary to former President Ram Nath Kovind for one year in September 2019. His tenure was extended, for a term co-terminus with the then President Kovind, in 2020. Mr. Singh’s term was further extended for two years in September 2022. President Murmu assumed office as the 15th President of India on July 25th, 2022.
