New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved an extension for Mr. Som Raj, Director (Personnel & Administration) at the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI), to hold the additional charge of Director (Finance) at SCI. The approval comes from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, with the extension running from January 1, 2026, for a period of three months or until a regular incumbent assumes the post, whichever is earlier.
ACC Approves Ex-Post Facto Appointment
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) granted ex-post facto approval for the entrustment of the additional charge of Director (Finance) to Mr. Som Raj. The decision, made official on February 18, 2026, ensures that Mr. Som Raj will continue to oversee the critical financial operations of SCI until a permanent appointment is made.
The tenure for this additional charge has been set for three months, starting from January 1, 2026. In the event that a regular incumbent assumes the post before the completion of three months, or if further orders are issued, the arrangement will end sooner.
Mr. Som Raj’s Expanding Role at SCI
Mr. Som Raj assumed the role of Director (Personnel & Administration) at SCI on July 15, 2025. In addition to his primary responsibilities at SCI, he holds additional positions as Director Operations at Shipping Corporation of India Land and Assets Ltd. (SCILAL) and Additional Director at Inland Coastal Shipping Ltd (ICSL).
His new role as Director (Finance), effective from January 1, 2026, will allow him to oversee the financial strategy and operations of SCI during this transitional period.
